NERIE permanent campus inaugurated

SHILLONG: Union HRD Minister Dr MM Pallamraju during his visit to Shillong on Friday also inaugurated new and permanent campus of NERIE at Umiam, Ri Bhoi

Speaking on the occasion. Dr MM Pallamraju said that there is a need to move away from the conventional ways of learning to a more democratic and liberal system of education.

He also stated that the institute could be a step towards decentralization of delivery of training y making it accessible to a large clientele in the region.School Education and Literacy, MHRD Secretary Rajarshi Bhattacharya highlighted the significant developments in the North East in general and Meghalaya in particular in last five decades and lauded the efforts of the people in various spheres of life such as music, sports, archery and sustainable ways of life.

Prof. R. C. Laloo, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister, Education, Government also complimented the Central government of India for establishing NERIE in the state of Meghalaya and expressed his appreciation to NERIE and NCERT for collaborating with the state on various important matters of school education.

The Meghalaya Education Minister, Prof Laloo also hoped that Right to Education enacted by the Government of India will help in arresting the drop out rates in Meghalaya.
