JOWAI: A woman identified as Deilang Lamare (25) and her two-year-old daughter, Emika Lamare was found murdered at Mynkre village in East Jaintia Hills District, last night.
Sources informed that the woman runs a liquor shop. “We suspect that unknown miscreants raped the woman and after raping her they killed her and didn’t spare the young kid”, sources informed.
Sources further informed that the body of the woman was found from a nearby river while the body of the child was found inside the shop.
Villagers from Mynkre along with East Jaintia hills police immediately launched a search operation to trace the body of the mother soon after the recovery of the girl’s body. The body of both the victims was handed over to relatives only after all formalities including post mortem examination was completed on Monday.
