Minor raped by brother-in-law

JOWAI: A 17-year-old girl of Iongnoh village in West Jaintia Hills District was allegedly raped at her residence on June 2 by one Paitar Sohshang who is her brother in law.

Jowai Police arrested the accused on Wednesday.

Sources informed that the girl’s elder sister was at Jowai Civil Hospital attending one of her sick child.

A day after the incident, the grandmother of the girl also passed away and the matter could not be informed either to the village authority or to the police.

Only on Tuesday, the girl informed the headman, and villagers immediately apprehended Sohshang and handed him over to Jowai Police on Wednesday.
