SHILLONG: Even as the Meghalaya Police is clueless on the whereabouts of absconding CMJ University Chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha, it is interesting to note that the CMJU functionaries were able to get a signature from their absconding boss on Saturday.

A clarification submitted on behalf of the CMJ Chancellor to the Education Minister RC Laloo had the former’s signature, dated June 15, on it.

Despite a look out notice issued against Jha by the State CID, the State Police, with all the sophisticated

instruments including mobile tracking system and digital mapping at its disposal has not been able to track down the accused. Alerting police stations across the country has also not been of any help.

The Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate had issued an arrest warrant against Jha on May 13.

The irony is that even as the authorities are clueless on Jha’s whereabouts, CMJ functionaries seem to have access to him.
