SHILLONG: Maitshaphrang Nengnong claimed a double hat-trick and yet his goals made up only a fraction of Royal Wahingdoh FC’s incredible 21-0 score line against Mawlai FC in an U-19 Shillong Premiere League match, played at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Saturday.

In the other match of the day, Rangdajied United FC defeated Pohkseh SCC 6-0.

Following his four goals against Langsning FC on June 8, Maitshaphrang added another six to his tally against a weakened Mawlai side on Saturday.

Shailang Nongspung and Khangmiki Pale scored four goals each, Raymond Kharkongor put in three, while Eijingmut backed his side up with another two, with Gabriel Blah adding one.

Shailang opened the scores in the very first minute against a 10-man Mawlai after which goals flowed at a rapid rate.

The match was played under wet conditions, but that did not seem to trouble the Royals at all.

Mawlai were fighting a losing battle from the start as they came into the match with the exclusion of any substitutes.

The comprehensive 21 to nil win will be useful for Wahingdoh as they up their goals tally in the ongoing U-19 Premiere League.

Earlier in the day, Rangdajied also notched up a fine win against a surprisingly sluggish Pohkseh side.

Not allowing Pohkseh to advance towards their goal, Rangdajied were in control of the match from the word go.

RUFC’s win came after a goalless draw against rivals Royal Wahingdoh in their previous match on Wednesday.
