Protestor killed

JOWAI: One protestor was killed in Lakadong Ummat village (East Jaintia Hills) during agitations against the alleged encroachment of the Sein Raij Land by one Nio Lyngdoh of the same village on Wednesday at around 11 am.

Sources informed that villagers of Lakadong Ummat came out to dismantle the foundation meant for construction of a residential building by Nio Lyngdoh in the land of Sein Raij Lakadong.

During the dismantling process, a brother-in-law of the encroacher, Origin Amkhloo came out of his house with a dao and attacked one of the protestors, Karling Lyngdon who died on the spot. The culprit is absconding.
