JOWAI: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organization (AJYWO) has alleged that the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council has failed to provide details under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

AJYWO president, MH Dkhar informed that his organization filed two RTI applications seeking detailed information on the illegal dwelling of a particularly community at a place called Um-la-tkhar, under Mookhep village in East Jaintia Hills District and in another application, the AJYWO sought details in connection with various funds and schemes available with the District Council.

Both the RTI applications were filed with the PIO of the Administrative Department and with PIO of the Finance Department of the JHADC. “It is already 40 days now since we submitted both the applications but none of the PIOs have provided us any information sought under RTI”, Dkhar said. “As per RTI guidelines, we have lodged a complaint with the First Appellate Authority of the JHADC against both the PIOs”, Dkhar added.

The AJYWO also threatened to lodge another complaint with the Chief Information Commissioner.
