NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) on Tuesday dismissed claims by Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh that the Town Planning Officer of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority, posted at Byrnihat, had been threatened the Federation.

The RBYF was reacting to a press statement by the Minister on June 20 where she had claimed that the Town Planning Officer did not issue the termination letters to two casual employees – Hundalin Warjri and Subita Lapang – as she had been threatened by the NGOs to ensure their continue service.

The RBYF also termed as baseless Lyngdoh’s claim that MUDA continued to pay the salaries of the two employees, saying that they had not received any salary since January 2012.

“We will not hesitate to close down the MUDA office at Byrnihat if the Urban Affairs Minister continues to remain indifferent to our demands of reinstating the two casual employees,” the RBYF asserted.
