TURA: A sudden cyclonic storm hit the Gulban area of Rajabala on Sunday afternoon leading to destruction of several homes.

The storm, which reportedly had the features of a tornado, hit Gulban area, 3 kms from Rajabala at around 3 O’clock in the afternoon flattening one house and partially damaging five other dwelling homes.

A woman sustained injuries from falling debris and was taken to hospital with a suspected fracture of the leg. Locals claim that the freak storm sucked out the water of the nearby river into a funnel-like shape before smashing into the houses located nearby.

A magistrate on duty, Extra Assistant Commissioner Albert G Momin and the Rajabala police officer in charge visited the site and inspected the damage caused from the storm.
