SHILLONG: Irked with frequent power cuts and disruption of power supply in areas around Nongkrem under the Mawryngkneng Distribution Line of the MeECL, local residents of these areas have asked the concerned authorities to address the problem immediately to prevent further inconvenience to the public.

During the last week, frequent power cuts numbering about 6-8 per day were reported from the area. “This is not the first time that such incidents have happened but now the frequency of power cuts has increased,” the Meghalaya Youth Foundation (MYF) said in a statement.

“This issue had been taken up by the local MLA but to no avail,” the MYF said, while urging the MeECL to take necessary action to rectify the problem for improved power supply to the affected areas.
