Bill on Sixth Schedule tabled

 JOWAI: The draft Sixth Schedule to the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2012 was placed in the House during the day-long session of the JHADC on Monday.

The draft Bill was placed along with the recommendations, views and comments of the MB Rymbai-led Executive Committee. The same will be submitted to the State Government and to the Home Ministry.

Recommendations made by the Executive Committee include doing away with the Para 12(A) of the Sixth Schedule which has limited the powers of the Autonomous District Councils.

It was also suggested that the number of seats should be increased to 46 including nominated members.

“In course of administration over the years, it is found necessary to increase the number of seats with a view to ensure a fair representation, stability and better administration”, the Executive Committee stated

JHADC in a poor financial position: The financial position of the JHADC is in a poor state and in such a condition, no TA, DA has been paid to the touring staff and officers of the JHADC since April 2012.

In a reply to a question raised by Moonlight Pariat, the CEM, MB Rymbai who is in charge of the JHADC Financial Affairs admitted that the financial position of the Council is in a poor state.
