NONGPOH: Toughening its stand against the State government’s failure to fulfill its various demands including reinstatement of two casual employees of MUDA’s Byrnihat office, the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) on Monday announced twin agitational programme-office picketing during the day time followed by road blockade at night.

Informing this to The Shillong Times after a meeting held at an undisclosed location near Umsning, RBYF Central Body general secretary L K Sawkmie said that they have decided to go for office picketing on Thursday and Friday and the night road blockade effective from 8 pm to 5am.

This is the second in the series of agitational programme called by the RBYF within a week’s time. Its two-night road blockades concluded on Saturday.

The RBYF has been demanding reinstatement of the two casual workers –Subita Lapang and Hundalin Warjri — in MUDA’s Byrnihat office.

The two workers did not receive any termination letter from MUDA but the authorities arbitrarily stopped paying them their monthly salary of Rs 2,500.
