Kohima: The long desired for a Medical College in Nagaland is going to be fulfilled with the initiative of Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare Imkong L Imchen, along with the Commissioner and Secretary of Health Department and local MLA, who had a long meeting with the Kohima Village Council to select a site to establish the Medical College.
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister Imkong L Imchen along with Parliamentary Secretary Dr Neikiesalie Kire, Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Sentiyanger, Principal Director of Health Dr Neiphi Kire and departmental officers met with the Kohima Village Council (KVC) at the Council Hall last evening to discuss the long felt dream for a medical college in Nagaland that could soon become a reality with finalisation of the site at the District Hospital Kohima, in P Khel of Kohima Village.
According to official sources on Wednesday, Imchen, while informing that a final decision has been taken to establish a medical college at Kohima, stated that cabinet approval is yet to be taken to this effect.
He assured the gathering that it would get through soon. While stressing on the need for a collaborative effort, Imkong informed that the KVC’s mandate is required to make the medical college a reality.
He expressed desire for the project to start within a year and to see that it is completed within two to three years. Parliamentary Secretary, Dr Neikiesalie Kire sought cooperation of the people in Kohima and appealed for land owners to help in establishing the college.
Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Sentiyanger called upon the KVC and land owners to join hands in achieving this dream. (UNI)
