SHILLONG: Nongthymmai secured a narrow 1-0 win against Mawpat despite facing some resistance in Thursday’s Second Division match at Ground III, Polo Grounds.

Nongthymmai could have earned themselves an earlier goal but skipper Eqanmi missed a penalty in the eighth minute.

Instead, the only goal of the match was scored by Kynsai Kharmujai in the 72nd minute, courtesy a cross from the far right side.

Kynsai caught the goalkeeper off guard and lobbed the ball into the net.

Mawpat could not come back and came away with the one-goal loss at the end of the stipulated 80 minutes.

On Friday, Ryntih will face off against Mawpat at the same venue at 4pm.
