SHILLONG: A GNLA cadre, who escaped when the arms consignment was seized from a Mahindra Scorpio at Chinabat village in East Garo Hills recently, surrendered before the East Garo Hills police on Thursday afternoon.
The GNLA cadre has been identified as Sophon N Sangma alias Rongrim alias Taklu of Samanda Chinemgre village of East Garo Hills. He is from the 3rd batch of the GNLA recruits. Sangma surrendered before the Superintendent of Police East Garo Hills JFK Marak on Thursday with one .22 pistol and 6 rounds live ammunitions.
