SHILLONG: Expressing concern over the decision of the Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) to abandon the low cost housing unit project at Nongmynsong, the All Meghalaya Contractor and Supplier Association (AMC&SA) have urged the government hand over major projects in the future to PWD, MGCC etc. so as to generate employment for the local people. Following “the blunder committed by HPL”, the Government should desist from taking the services of companies from outside in such projects as “the local contractors are capable enough to take up the job,” AMC&SA publicity secretary Rebel Pariat said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
