SHILLONG: The Police are still seeking legal opinion on the matter relating to the FIR filed by RTI Activists Angela Rangad and Agnes Kharshiing on corrupt procurement of sub-standard and unhealthy food items under supplementary nutrition programme of ICDS in Meghalaya.

According to the documents obtained through RTI by Kharshiing on July 24 from police, a copy of the FIR regarding the matter was sent to the Home Police department to seek legal opinion and the response is still awaited.

In a query seeking the name of the branch of the police department that dealt with all the complaints related to the social welfare department from 2007 till date, the reply received from police was that the information was filed before the DGP and thereafter endorsed to the CID.

When asked whether any forensic examination was called for with regards to the case, the CID replied in the negative adding that since 2007 till date, no case was registered against any social welfare officials and no seizures were made.
