SHILLONG: Vying for the ‘supermom’ tag, Juliana Kurbah from Meghalaya is fighting her way through contenders in Zee TV reality show Dance India Dance-Supermom and has so far managed to reach the Top 8.

Urging for votes on her behalf, her aunt, Omega Kurbah appealed to the general public of the State to extend their support to Juliana stating that this was the first time that a working woman and a mother has reached this spot.

“It is a proud moment for the whole family and if she wins, she will be the first woman to lead the way for other women of the State to showcase their talent and the whole ideology of a woman being restricted to the household work will be diluted,” her aunt said.

Juliana, who has a 4-year-old daughter, Hazel Kurbah hails from Marbisu, Pdengshnong in Mawngap and is a Music and Dance teacher in Delhi. She stays with her husband and daughter in Delhi. It may be mentioned that in the previous series, Juliana expressed her willingness to take part in the dance competition despite the hard times the family was going through when her daughter was diagnosed with a rare disease similar to Leukaemia stating “I did it because of my daughter.” According to her aunt, Juliana showed her interest in dancing since she was a little girl and she never held herself back from pursuing her dreams.

The finals of the reality show will be held in the month of September. Her next appearance will be on Saturday.
