GNLA arms seized near Garobadha

TURA: In a major breakthrough at averting disaster SWAT commandos have seized a grenade launcher including RDX explosives from a GNLA militant and three overground operators in Garobadha region of West Garo Hills district on Saturday.

Police recovered the arms after they arrested three militant workers and a hardcore ultra from Dopachigre village on the foothills of Rangira, near Dengasi under Garobadha police outpost, where the weapons were concealed by the banned militant group.

The grenade launcher is believed to have been brought over from GNLA chief Sohan D Shira’s camp in the Durama Hills of East Garo Hills for operational use by the new area commander of Garobadha-Selsella region identified as Jack Ch Momin.

Two explosive devices containing RDX material were also seized from the hideout, it was reported.

The arrested militant has been identified as Jinda M Sangma (21) of Megapgre village.

The three overground workers who were caught helping the outfit were Welbius M Sangma (25) of Mukdangra, Waljang Ch Sangma (24) of Damjongre village and Pramod T Sangma (21) of Bandarkona village in Ampati region.
