TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) has called for a 12-hour dawn to dusk non-cooperation movement in the entire Dadenggre civil sub-division on Tuesday and Wednesday to demand for the removal of Selsella BDO and retaining of a education officer who has been posted out to Mairang.

The GSU announced the agitation after a meeting of its units in Dadenggre on Saturday afternoon.

“We will hold the non-cooperation movement from 5 am to 5 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday to seek the removal of Selsella BDO Dr D Roy and action against him as per the FIR filed. We are also calling for the revoking of the transfer of Mrs I G Momin, the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer,” GSU western zone (north) president Rupa Marak told The Shillong Times.

The GSU is going for a poster campaign on Sunday and Monday ahead of the two-day non-cooperation movement.

The student body held a meeting at its Dadenggre office on Saturday which was attended by its local units from Tikrikilla, Phulbari, Selsella, Chibinang and Damal Asim.

“The NCM will be enforced in the entire Dadenggre civil sub-division region which extends to Selsella also,” said the GSU president.

The organization has threatened to agitate further if the government refuses to fulfill its demands. The transfer of SDSEO of Dadenggre, Mrs I G Momin, to Mairang in Khasi Hills by the government has been strongly opposed by the students’ union.

The GSU is also seeking the return of former Selsella BDO Albert G Momin, MCS, who was replaced by Dr Roy over a month ago.
