SHILLONG: Red Ant Dream, scripted and edited by city based filmmaker Tarun Bhartiya will be screened at the prestigious Indie 8 Film Festival on August 3 to be organized by St Anthony’s College in its auditorium.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers. The film, directed by Sanjay Kak, deals with Maoism, people’s war group and other bloody revolts, armed insurrection that was seen and is still going on in various parts of the country.

The two hour documentary is a chronicle of those who live the revolutionary ideal in India, a rare encounter with the invisible domain of those whose everyday is a fight for another ideal of the world.

The third in a cycle of films that interrogate the workings of Indian democracy, Red Ant Dream (2013) follows Jashn-e-Azadi (2007) about the idea of freedom for Kashmir, and Words on Water (2002) about the people’s movement against large dams in the Narmada valley.
