Awareness on ICPS held at Mawkyrwat

MAWKYRWAT: The District Child Protection Unit, West Khasi Hills, organized a day-long awareness programme on the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) on Monday at Maharam Government Secondary School Auditorium, Mawkyrwat where a large number of Myntri, headmen, secretaries, women’s group members, Anganwadi workers etc., participated. The Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Mawkyrwat, Ms. D Kharshiing, attended as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Kharshiing laid stress on the need of close coordination among the public, the district administration and the police so that children could be protected in a possible manner. She urged upon the participants to share the vital information with the local residents in their respective villages.

Various topics such as child adoption, ICPS, the role and function of the child welfare committees, Child Marriage Protection Act, child labour, domestic violence etc., were discussed during the day-long programme.
