NONGSTOIN: The Nongstoin Assembly Youth Congress (NAYC) on Wednesday conducted a free health camp at Mawroh Sub Centre, Mawlangniang to help the victims of the recent cyclonic storm that occurred there. The health camp was conducted in collaboration with the DMHO West Khasi Hills.

More than 200 victims of the storm benefitted from the health camp. Dr M Nongrum and Dr K Kharummuit along with a nurse diagnosed the patients at the camp.

Before the health camp, a small meeting was held where D D Nongsiej, president of the NAYC was the Chief Guest. E S Nongrem vice president of the NAYC chaired the meeting.

Nongsiej in his address said that the health camp was conducted to help the victims by providing treatment at their doorstep. As the road leading to Mawroh was extremely bad, most of the villagers were unable to go to Nongstoin for their medical checkup, he added.

Nongsiej also appealed to the Govt to make the Mawroh Sub Centre operational. He said that the building for the sub centre was also constructed but was lying vacant and useless.
