SHILLONG: The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose – INA Trust based in the National capital has vehemently objected the use of the word “Netaji” to Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in the electronic and print media, recently.
Not just the trust, its members and trustees who are ex-servicemen from the defence and other sectors of the Indian economy, have also strongly resented such diabolical use of the word since it is exclusively identified with the name of Bose and is almost worshipped by the people of the country.
The trust and Bose lovers have categorically objected the blatant use of the word “Netaji”, which is synonymous with Subhash Chandra Bose, to Yadav by a couple of electronic and print media houses in the country.
While calling upon all media houses to stop referring politicians with the word “Netaji”, the INA Trust said that such unthinkable use of the word hurts the legacy and sentiments of the people of the country.
Clarifying further that the INA Trust has nothing against the politician in question, the trust however made it clear that if this practice by the media houses is not stopped immediately and if the trust don’t raise its voice to the objectionable use of the word then next time when someone google the word “Netaji” the image of the politician will pop out and not the actual leader.
While reiterating its objection, the INA Trust said that just like there is not another “Mahatma”, “Panditji”, there cannot be another “Netaji”.
INA Trust member and Bose’s follower Renuka Malakar said, “I have no idea who bestowed this title on the politician but this has to discontinue immediately since it is felt like someone has snatched away the legacy of one of India’s greatest leaders.”
Meanwhile, Bose’s lovers from the city have urged the media houses to practice restraint when it comes to issues that may ignite the sentiments of the masses. “Nobody would like to see the use of these revered words like “Netaji”, “Mahatma” etc. to be used in such ghoulish manner. Such an act is condemnable to the highest order,” said one Sushil Chowdhury.
