SHILLONG: The chief organising secretary of Williamnagar Congress Committee and president of Block Youth Congress Committee Tennydard M. Marak on Wednesday shot off a complaint to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes demanding cancellation of the ST certificate of Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma.

Marak also asked the Election Commission of India to take action against the Chief Minister for fraudulently obtaining the ST certificate.

“He has obtained his ST certificate through misrepresentation of facts which is against basic customs, traditions and usages,” the letter said.

The allegation of Marak is that as Dr Sangma’s mother is late Roshanara Begum and father Binoy Bhusan Marak, the use of surname ‘Sangma goes’ against the matrilineal tradition.
