Eid celebrated with enthusiasm in North East

Kohima: With the rest of the world, the muslim brethren in Nagaland on Friday celebrated Eid-ul-fitr throughout the state.

In Kohima, there was a huge gathering of around 5,000 Islamic followers in and around Kohima, gathered at the Assam Rifles Ground where the namaz was administered by Maulana Bilal Ahmed Choudhury, Pesh Imam of Jami Mosjid, Kohima.

More than 4000 Muslim community in Aizawl offered prayer at Assam Rifles ground here on Friday morning. The mass prayer was led by Hafiz Maulana Shahin Ahmed Choudhury, Imam of Aizawl Mosque, who read out verses from the Holy Quran.

Eid was also celebrated in other north east states where prayers were held and Muslims exchanged gifts and offered alms on the occasion. (Agencies)
