Cancellation of ST status demanded

 SHILLONG: The Garo Students Union, Assam zone has asked the authorities concerned to cancel the ST status granted to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the GSU Assam State Zone President Frylin Marak said that there is an urgent need to protect and preserve Garo customary laws.

According to Marak, the issue of ST status to Sangma has been agitating the minds of Garos due to its far reaching implications.
