SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has directed the Health Department to study the Supreme Court judgement scrapping the common entrance test (NEET) for MBBS, BDS and post-graduate courses in medical and dental colleges.

Informing this here on Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek said the Government was still awaiting a response from the Centre on allotment of MBBS seats under the Central Pool.

“The matter is not in our hands. We have to wait for the Centre to allot the MBBS seats which are reserved for the State,” Hek said adding that he discussed the issue with the Chief Minister.

He, however, assured that the State Government would not delay once the seats were being allotted to the State.

Earlier, the Centre had decided to seek a review of the Supreme Court judgement scrapping the common entrance test (NEET).
