Gang-rape, murder of minor evokes public anger

SHILLONG: The gang-rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl at Chisimgre near Gokokgre in North Garo hills recently has evoked widespread anger among residents of the district who have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and payment of compensation to the victim’s family.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life including school children, joined in a public meeting followed by a silent rally in North Garo Hills on Monday to protest the murder of the minor girl.
