SHILLONG: A delegation of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Tuesday met Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma to deliberate on a number of issues plaguing the State but the meeting could not make much progress since the Chief Minister was preoccupied. Following the brief meeting with the Chief Minister, HSPDP vice president Ardent Basaiawmoit told reporters that Dr Mukul Sangma is committed to holding a separate meeting with the party on various issues including the vexed boundary dispute, influx dilemma and the implementation of the National Population Register.

The party also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking his immediate intervention into the various issues that have been plaguing the State.

In the memorandum, the HSPDP urged the State Government to resolve the challenging boundary dispute with Assam since people in the border area continue to be harassed by the Assam authorities.

As the demand for implementing Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State is increasing, the party said that the Government must implement ILP to curb the entry of outsiders into the State.

The HSPDP memorandum also asked the Government to hold the process of National Population Register in the State.
