Regenerating measures for agriculture launched

 AMPATI: The Chairman of Meghalaya Employment Generation and Resource Mobilisation, Dikkanchi D Shira, in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Home, WD Sangma, launched the Facilitating Agriculture Regenerating Measures (FARM) at Zikjak C&RD Block on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Shira stressed on the need to preserve natural environment and to focus on proper management of natural resources.

Encouraging multiple cropping, she asked the people to cooperate with the line departments for availing technical support. She also urged the people of the selected villages to grab the maximum opportunity to be provided under FARM which will be implemented by the Bakdil.

Guest of Honour on the occasion, WD Sangma, urged the people of the area to support and cooperate with the line departments and the implementing agency, the Bakdil, for a better future.

DGM, NABARD, HK Baruah, informed that 20 villages under Zikjak C&RD Block have been selected which will be given special focus to increase agricultural productivity within three years thereby covering 1290 farmers.

On the day, rolls of yarns were distributed to the beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Special Package for Weavers.
