Broadcast
There will be a State broadcast of Governor Dr KK Paul message on the occasion of Independence Day at 8.30am on Thursday to be telecast by Doordarshan Kendra Shillong. This will be followed by the Chief Minister’s message. A repeat telecast of the Governor’s message will be aired at 7.30pm. A TV report on the Independence Day function at JN Complex will be telecast at 6pm.
Celebration
The Anthonian Youth Club, St. Anthony’s College is organising a programme to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday which will start from 8.30 am with the hoisting of the Tricolour followed by parade, dance competition, extempore speech and screening of movie.
Tournament
The 1st North Eastern Hill University Jowai Zone Inter College Tournament will begin on August 16 at Khimusniang Indoor Stadium, Jowai at 10 am. Prof. P Shukla, Vice Chancellor of NEHU will be the chief guest while PS Dkhar, DC, West Jaintia Hills District, will be the guest of honour.
Awareness
The NSS unit of St. Mary’s College, Shillong, in collaboration with the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society will organise an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS, blood donation and transfusion on August 16 at 12.30 pm on the college premises.
SCC performance
Shillong Chamber Choir will be performing in a programme on Thursday titled Saath Hai Hum Uttarakhand which is being telecast by Star Plus. The show, to be held in Mumbai, begins at 12 noon. The SCC segment is between 12 noon and 12:30 pm.
