TURA: A fifty-year-old villager was hacked and killed by an unknown group of killers on Monday night as he was returning home.

The victim, Donjeng Ch Sangma, was heading back to his home and family at Cheksagre village, 18 kms in the interior of Anogre under West Garo Hills when killers waylaid him and comited the heinous crime taking advantage of the darkness.

His body was found on the village road badly mutilated even as the killers escaped without a trace. Police have begun investigation into the incident.

Bodies handed over: The bodies of two intruders who were lynched by a mob after being caught entering the border village of Sesengpara in West Garo Hills on Monday night have been handed over to Bangladesh authorities on Wednesday.

The bodies of Himanta Koch and Sujol Koch, hailing from Rongtia village of Nokchi on the Bangladesh side of the border, were handed over by Garo Hills police to their counterparts from Bangladesh at the Killapara border in Dalu in the presence of BSF and Bangladesh Border Guards officials.

The deceased were reportedly part of a five-member gang of criminals who had crossed into Indian territory to commit crime late Monday night when they were caught by village defense party (VDP) personnel from Sesengpara and severally beaten up leading to their deaths. Three other intruders managed to escape, it was reported.
