SHILLONG: The All North East Indigenous Garo Law Promoters’ Association has reacted strongly to the claims of Mao-mong Manda Mahari Ku-monggrikani clan which has defended Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma’s tribal status.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, president of the Association, Phillips Ch Marak, questioned the claims of adoption of Roshanara Begum by the Manda Mahari clan while stating that if she was legally adopted then it should have been so since her childhood.

The Association also claimed that if Dr. Sangma had been a commoner, the clan would not have protected him.
