SHILLONG: Although the Government has paved the way for the meeting on the feasibility of implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) with the NGOs on August 29, the city on Wednesday woke up to a surprise as the walls of several Government offices were found covered in graffiti demanding ILP in the State.

It remains unclear as to when the walls were painted with red colour bearing statements such as ‘Implement ILP’, ‘No ILP No Rest’ and ‘We are ready to fight’.

The statements were conspicuous in the high security zone Secretariat, District Transport Office in Lachumiere, Traffic booths of Don Bosco and Dhankheti, Malki bus stop and the walls of Shillong Press Club. Soon after the walls were seen painted in bold red hues, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal directed the PWD to erase the writings from all the spots. “Nobody has claimed for the writings as yet and I have asked the SP to investigate into the matter,” Goyal said here on Wednesday.
