Movie screening
The Khasi Students’ Union, NEHU Unit, will organise a screening of the documentary Red Ant Dream on August 23 at 2.30 pm at the Old Guest House Auditorium, NEHU Campus, Mawlai. The Screening will be followed by a discussion.
Art competition
The Zenith Jubelieth Club will organise the All Shillong Krishna Das Paul Choudhury Memorial Art Competition at Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School on August 25. Participants should report at the venue at 10 am.
General meet
The general meeting of the Meghalaya SSA School Association, Mylliem Block, will be held on August 22 at 11am at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar.
Seminar
The Physics department of Lady Keane’s College in collaboration with the department of Physics, NEHU, is organising a two-day national seminar on ‘Commemoration of the Centenary Year of Bohr’s Atomic Theory’ on August 23 and 24 at 10 am in the college seminar hall. Governor Dr KK Paul will inaugurate the seminar on August 23 at 10am.
Exhibition
The Office of the District School Education Officer, East Khasi Hills, is organising a one-day district-level Science Exhibition under the ‘Inspire Award Scheme’ at Government Girls’ HS School, Jail Road, on August 23 from 10am.
Founders’ Day
The Youth Hostel Association, Meghalaya State Branch, will observe the Founders’ Day on August 26 at Youth Hostel, Shillong at 1pm. An inter-school debate on the topic ‘RTE Act will enhance the quality of Education in the State’ will also be organised.
Bravery award
The Meghalaya State Council for Child Welfare has invited application/nomination for National Bravery Award, 2013, for children between the age of 6 and 18 years for incidents which have occurred between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. The last date for submission of application is September 20.
Freshers’ meet
The Mizo Students’ Union, Shillong will organise its 34th Fresher Social Function at U Tirot Singh Auditorium on August 22 with the theme ‘Oneness’. Mizoram Minister of Urban Development Affair, Sports, Zodintluanga, will grace the function as chief guest while Robert Royte, Director of North East Consultancy Services will be the guest of honour.
