Concert in aid of differently abled

SHILLONG: In an effort to lend a helping hand to the disabled children, Bethany Society along with CBM will organize “Harmony of Hope Concert” next month in aid of education for disabled children.

To make the concert more exciting, world renowned pianist Cesare Picco will also play the piano in the event envisioned in building the future of disabled children.

Cesare has performed at Italy’s most important festivals like Ravello festival and many others.

The concert will be held on September 2 at 4 pm at the St Anthony’s College auditorium.

Talking to media persons here in the city on Friday, Bethany Society Executive Director Carmo Noronha said that the aim of organizing the event apart from fund raising is to sensitize people on the calibre of disabled children but most importantly to break down stereotypes surrounding them.

He also said that the Government has launched various schemes for the disabled children whereby students who are pursuing their studies receive financial aid from the Union Government on a monthly basis.

While ruing that many of the schools and public buildings do not have ramps for disable children, he also stated that disabled children are entitled to right to education.

The concert will also feature rock band “Na Rympei, choir group ” Aroha Choir” and Bethany choir.

The Donor cards for the event are available at Bethany Society, Café Shillong, Uncle’s Shop, Infashion and Vestige.

During the press conference, a visually impaired Class XII student of Jyoti Sroat school said, “I request all to come to our concert and see the performances.”
