One held for selling medicine illegally

 SHILLONG: The State Police on Friday detained one person for selling medicine illegally at the Ichamati Dharam Junction near Shella on Friday.

Acting on a tip off, the Health Inspector along with SDPO (Sohra), Ian Swer conducted a raid on Shella village and recovered a huge quantity of medicine that was being sold illegally by a quack identified as Anwar Hussein. As Hussein was not present in the village at the time of the raid, police detained his wife Salema Begum. Hussein was earlier booked under Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 and a case under Drugs and Cosmetic Act is being taken up now. The quack has been issued summon to appear before police.
