NONGSTOIN: The body of a resident from Umwahkhar, who has been reportedly missing since August 25, was recovered from Umwali near Langpih on August 29 by villagers of Umwali, a delayed report said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Nal Bahadur Dorji (56).

The body was taken by the Lumpee (Langpih) Police Outpost of Assam and was subsequently handed over to the Boko Police Station in Assam. Police sources from Boko said the body bore several injury marks.

Suspecting the incident to be a case of murder, villagers of Umwahkhar has lodged an FIR at the Boko Police Station and a case has been registered in this regard.

Taking the enmity along the border between the residents of Langpih a step further, the Nepali villagers of Umwahkhar have alleged that the Khasi people residing in and around Langpih were responsible for the death of Dorji.
