Holiday

All offices and all revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills district will remain closed on September 18 on account of Unitarian Anniversary Day.

Appointment

The Meghalaya State NCP has appointed Jormanic Myrthong as the secretary of NCP Shillong city and George A Warjri as secretary East Khasi Hills.

Foundation

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the permanent campus of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will be held at Mawlong (Umsawli) on September 7 at 12:15 pm. Union Minister of Textiles Dr KS Rao along with Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will grace the occasion.

Session

The 44th fresher’s social cum annual session of Chakhesang Students Union will be held on September 7 at 10:30 am at Naga community hall, Nagaland House.

Seminar

The North East Handicrafts and Handloooms Development Corporation Limited recently organized a seminar cum workshop on advocacy and knowledge sharing amongst artisans, weaver Entrepreneurs and SHGs in the city. The seminar was attended by more than one hundred artisans and weavers.

Debate

Women’s College, Shillong will organize the Ninth Mrs. Fatima I. Hussain Memorial Inter-College Debate Competition on September 7 at 1 pm. The motion of the debate will be ‘India’s Post-Reform Economic Policies are Anti-Poor’. Professor B.B. Dutta,Former M.P,Rajya Sabha, would be the Speaker of the House.

Open forum

SAN-KER will organise an open forum on September 10, at Holy Cross Brookdene Hall, at 2.00 pm to observe the “World Suicide Prevention Day”.
