SHILLONG: Following allegations from a section of candidates, the FKJGP East Zone, (Williamnagar) has asked the Meghalaya public Service Commission (MPSC) to come clear on the flouting of MPSC rules and regulations in the recently declared results for the post of lecturers in the Garo Department.

The unsuccessful candidates had demanded the immediate cancellation of the results and issuance of a fresh notification for interviews after alleging that the selections were done in a biased manner.

Expressing disappointment over the matter, the FKJGP demanded that the concerned authority should clarify its stand on the issue without delay.

Citing the incident in which a successful female candidate, who failed to produce her MA certificate on the day of the interview (May 2) was allowed to submit the same the next day, FKJGP East Zone general secretary Mathew R. Marak said the move was totally unjustified.

“There should be no concession or partiality in appointing the lecturers in all the respective Government Colleges by the concerned authority,” Marak said adding that the candidates had to pass the NET conducted by the UGC/CSIR or similar tests accredited by the UGC’ to be competent for the said post.

He said that even if the candidates have a working experience but fail in the MPSC examination, they should be disqualified.

Urging the concerned authority and the State Government to solve the discrepancies immediately, the FKJGP stated that if such malpractices continue, the government will lose the

trust of the people.

Federation opposes DSC results

Meanwhile, the Federation has also strongly opposed the results of the written test for the post of LDA, sectional assistant and lady supervisor declared recently by the District Selection Committee (DSC).

According to the FKJGP, RTI documents have revealed that the written test conducted for the said posts had many discrepancies and violated the norms set by the DSC.

The RTI was filed by some NGOs from Williamnagar.

“The invigilators who were supposed to conduct the written test ordered by the Chairman District Selection Committee maintained no attendance record and five of them (invigilators) were not named in the order issued by the Chairman. However, their names appeared in the attendance record of the candidates,” Marak said.

The RTI documents further stated that the invigilator had taken the attendance of only one candidate from one particular room and coincidently, from the same room, one of the candidates succeeded without signing in the attendance record.

“Most successful candidates are sitting together on the same bench and this can be verified from the attendance record of the candidates,” Marak claimed while alleging that the DSC has used the Risograph of Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan for printing out the questions papers and shockingly seven candidates who were staff of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan emerged successful.

The DSC should have the Resograph of their own or at least should have the printing equipment to print out the question papers, Marak said adding that borrowing and using the printing equipments from other departments show that the DSC is not competent enough to conduct the written test.

The FKJGP urged the State Government to give a serious look into the matter.
