IMPHAL: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has decided to identify any organisation or element working against the interest of the Zeliangrong community.

The ZUF said there have been elements of vested interest whose activities had resulted in the splitting of the erstwhile Zeliangrong apex body, Zeliangrong Council, which was formed in 1947.

Affirming to keep a strict vigil on activities detrimental to the Zeliangrong interest, the ZUF appeals to all concerned, especially the Zeliangrong people irrespective of faith, party affiliations and interest groups or individuals, to support the effort of the young people both civilians and revolutionary ranks and file towards solidarity and safeguarding of Zeliangrong lands, people, natural resources and culture.

“The efforts to build up a formidable strength for these objectives include the interest of Zeliangrong people and kindred tribes,” the ZUF stated.

ZUF information secretary A Dangmei said that more often than not some leaders or individuals of vested interest are hell bent on sabotaging any prospective venture or project or organization without any hesitation.

The ZUF then said it is very much concerned about the need to promote good leadership of the pro-Zeliangrong progress.

“Everyone should campaign for finding a suitable leadership rather than campaigning to discourage the patriotic zeal and Zeliangrong unity and oneness.

“The apex Zeliangrong body, Zeliangrong Council (1947) has now been bifurcated as Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB) and Zeliangrong Union (ZU) due to conflicting interests.

“Even the frontal organizations All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), Zeliangrong Women Organization (ZWO) and others are misled by certain anti-Zeliangrong elements. No one should work discreetly to influence the people as to deviate from the genuine choice of leadership,” the ZUF stated. (NNN)
