SHILLONG: In what could turn out to be a unique experience, the customers of Manthan Broadband Services Pvt. Ltd. (MBSPL) in Meghalaya and other states of eastern India will experience IBM’s big data and business analytics capabilities while using digital cable services.

MBSPL is a leading cable multi system operator (or MSO) in Eastern India will use the IBM big data technologies for its advanced, innovative capabilities to accelerate analytic workloads for databases and data warehouses.

IBM has signed a strategic 10-year deal with MBSPL in which the former will provide customized subscriber management solution in the form of IT infrastructure and subscriber support capabilities to the latter in order to fillip revenue generation and improve the company’s customer service experiences.

This is a landmark deal between the two in the sense that MBSPL boasts of serving more than three million households in the region and eastern India.

The deal is also eyeing to leverage the foundation of IBM’s big data analysis capabilities that include an enterprise-class big data platform, predictive and content analytics and decision management to give organization a competitive edge.

As per this engagement, it is designed to create advertisements based on digital advertisements of subscribers, a trend that is otherwise not seen in the IT domain in this part of the country, besides helping MBSPL which is on an up-gradation drive to meet the new digitization standards as notified by the union government to keep pace with the transforming media and entertainment industry in the country.

The MBSPL is also making substantial investments to upgrade its home and commercial networks besides set-top boxes.

As customers using digital cable services get the opportunity to keep only those channels of their choice, this corporate engagement will benefit MBSPL customers to subscribe and pay for those package channels they want.

Under this deal, these packaged tools will be built, implemented and managed by IBM using its technologies and packaged tools as the scope of the project includes integrating data from billing, customer relationship management as well as multiple conditional access and backend systems across the organization.

Necessary infrastructure technology and support including servers, storage, networks, security and data center hosting services will also be provided by IBM.
