NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin legislator Hoping Stone Lyngdoh on Wednesday inaugurated the newly-constructed office of the Superintendent Engineer (Western Circle), PHED, at Nongstoin.

Also present at the function were Nongstoin MDC LG Nongsiej, SE (Western Circle) PHED, SK Blah, Deputy Commissioner Sylvester Kharlyngdoh and officers of various departments of the district. The office of the SE (Western Circle) PHED was created in March 2006 and became functional in May that year. In the absence of its premises, the SE office functioned from the Inspection Bungalow of the PHED at Nongstoin. In 2009 the State Government sanctioned funds for the SE office, construction for which was completed in October last year.

Blah, in his welcome address, pointed out that it was due to the untiring efforts of PHE Executive Engineer A Lyngkhoi, that the site for the office, which was earlier planned in the outskirts of Nongstoin, was shifted to the present spot near the PHED office at Nongstoin.

The local MLA lauded the efforts of A Lyngkhoi and his team for their efforts to bring about the implementation of the Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme which, once completed, would bring respite to the water woes of the people of Nongstoin and adjoining villages.
