SHILLONG: A delegation of the Seng Longkmie from Nongmynsong on Wednesday called on Home Minister Roshan Warjri to express their resentment on the ‘partiality’ shown by the police while handling the arson cases in the area.

“We have apprised the Home Minister about the partiality of the police while arresting miscreants involved the arson cases,” Nongmynsong Seng Longkmie vice president P Nongpluh told reporters after the meeting.

The Seng Longkmie alleged that whenever KSU members are arrested they would be immediately ledged in the lock-up but when two non-indigenous persons were arrested from Nongmynsong the police did not put them in the lock-up.

“The two non-tribal boys were made to sit in a chair and were given good treatment by the police before they were taken to the hospital,” Nongpluh alleged, while adding that such partial treatment would only aggravate the situation.

“We have urged the Home Minister to instruct the police that before making any arrests they (police) should take the Rangbah Shnong into confident in order to avoid random arrest,” she said.

The Home Minister, on her part, assured that the matter would be examined and efforts would be taken to ensure that such things do not recur in the future.
