Step by Step School celebrates 35th anniv
SHILLONG: A colourful display of dance, cultural shows and songs marked the 35th anniversary of Step by Step School with the tiny tots making it amply clear that they excel not only in academics but also extra-curricular activities.
The mood was festive and excitement was running high as the students of Step by Step School, dressed in costumes of various life forms gathered to observe the 35th Foundation Day of the school.
The two-day annual concert which began at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Wednesday will conclude on Thursday.
Step by Step School was founded by Bluebell Wason Marbaniang in 1978 with the aim of providing quality education to the children of the city. The school is being run by her son, Robin Wason Marbaniang, since 2006.
Four months of preparation by the little ones, under the careful tutelage of the teachers, was evident from the wonderful array of programme that evoked much appreciation.
Animals, flowers, fairies and the various other characters ranging from prince and princess to the British royals enthralled the audience; however, the colourful display by pupils of Nursery classes, stole the show.
The performance by the school choir group added to the beauty of the programme.
Expressing delight, a parent of a pupil of the KG class, Gloria Notilia, said that a two-day break from the daily and regular schooling activity is healthy and events like this would prove to be highly beneficial for the little ones.
“It is a good initiative taken by the school as it encourages the kids to take part in extra-curricular activities besides studies,” said Herbert Shabong, a parent.
