NONGPOH: Twenty two trainees of the 40th batch of Field Assistant Training course 2012-13 were felicitated during their passing out ceremony at the Conservation Training Institute in Byrnihat on Friday.
Fourteen trainees from the Soil & Water Conservation Department, one from KHADC, four from JHADC and three from GHADC successfully completed the 11-month training course in which they gained knowledge of soil science, soil & water conservation engineering, survey and leveling, forest measuring, forest utilization, forest law, wildlife, forest silviculture among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Rowell Lyngdoh said that various technologies have been used in different programmes and schemes of the Government for protection and improvement of environment.
Lyngdoh expressed confidence that the newly trained Field Assistants would be able to use these technologies for conservation of water, soil and environment following the successful completion fo their training programme.
Lyngdoh also said the Field Assistants would be able to work more efficiently in tackling the effect of global warming on the environment due to the training. “Now that you have acquired new skills from the training, you should perform your duty diligently for the benefit of the people of the State, especially the farmers,”he said.
Lyngdoh also lauded the officers involved in imparting training to the Field Assistants. Aditional Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri also urged the Field Assistants to fully utilize their knowledge and skills and disseminate the same to others, particularly to the farmers.
