National seminar on maintenance of Opto-Analytical Instruments

SHILLONG: A week-long national workshop on Maintenance of Opto-Analytical Instruments-2013 and the new glass blowing unit of the Department of Chemistry of St. Anthony’s College were inaugurated by Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on the College premises here on Monday.

In her address, Lyngdoh lauded the Department of Chemistry of the College for holding the workshop of immense practical importance.

She observed that in the absence of proper maintenance, the costly and sophisticated instruments lie idle and are finally dumped leading to environmental hazards.

Lyngdoh also appreciated the new glass blowing unit which would promote use of waste glass materials for meaningful purposes.

The workshop is being organised by the Chemistry Department with technical collaboration from Western Regional Instrumentation Centre, Mumbai and sponsored by the State Council of Science Technology and Environment and the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank, Shillong.
