Baghmara: The Ministry of Home Affairs North Eastern Sector 120 Bn CRPF organised a Civic Action Programme on Tuesday at the Don Bosco Secondary School, Baghmara where sports equipments like Carrom, Badminton, Volleyball and Football were distributed to four selected schools – Don Bosco Secondary School, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Rangku Memorial Secondary School and Pioneer’s Secondary School of Baghmara.
South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner CP Gotmare was the chief guest on the occasion.
Gotmare, while expressing his gratitude towards the organizing committee, said that the CRPF was doing commendable job in maintaining law and order situation in the region and the State as a whole.
“This civic action programme will act as a positive step in maintaining good relation with the people of the region,” he said.
He congratulated the CRPF for their noble initiative in distributing sports kits to school children which according to him will greatly help the students in maintaining good physical and mental development. He also urged the students to make best use of the facilities extended to them by the CRPF.
M Karmakar, Principal, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Baghmara, expressed his gratitude towards the CRPF for providing them with a good number of sports kits and said that it would be of great benefit in meeting the required needs of the students and filling the gap of sports facilities among the schools of Baghmara. DK Saha, Principal, Rangku Memorial School, Smt. CP Marak, Principal, Pioneer’s Secondary School, Sister Superior of Don Bosco School and others also spoke on the occasion.
As part of the civic action programme, a Badminton tournament was also organized at the Indoor Stadium, Baghmara for the school students of the district.
A colourful cultural extravaganza was also organised on the occasion.
