SHILLONG: The ten-day induction training programme for National Youth Corps volunteers organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong, entered its fifth day on Tuesday with as many as 60 NYC participants taking part from seven districts of Meghalaya.

This training, which was inaugurated on September 13 by UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh at the Youth Hostel here, is being held with an aim to generate awareness among the youth about their role in rural development and nation building.

On Monday, all the trainees visited the Rural Resource Training Centre at Umran, Ri Bhoi district and also visited the various projects of RRTC like poultry unit, piggery unit, goat unit, rabbit unit, vermi-compost unit, carpentry unit, food processing unit and fishery unit. The trainees also interacted with the experts of each trade. A documentary film on RRTC was also shown to the trainees.

Other dignitaries who accompanied the trainees were Zonal Director, NYKS, Shillong, RPS Thakur, DYC of NYKS Shillong, Dr. Salam D Singh and Camp Commandant, Bobby Wahlang.
